Ferrit Unspectacular In Its Debut

For an internet start-up with the hefty financial backing of Telecom, it’s been a fairly unspectacular debut.

Online retailer Ferrit.co.nz seems to have won more publicity for paying off the owners of the web domain Ferrit.com, which hosted pornography, than it has for its new online shopping service. Kiwi web surfers have paid relatively slight attention to the site’s arrival.

According to data from web monitor Nielsen//NetRatings, through most of January daily unique visits to Ferrit have been floating between 2000 and 3000.

The Performance Network

During 2005 we encountered a lot of demand from advertisers, publishers and agencies for new ways to place, run and pay for online advertising campaigns. There was a lot of interest in “cost per click” (CPC), “cost per lead” (CPA) and “cost per sale” (CPS) models.

This demand has been stimulated by overseas trends that now sees these forms of ad payment set to out strip the more traditional CPM rate card. Of course much of the CPC market is being driven by Google, Yahoo and MSN Search.

Telecom’s XtraMSN hopes to persuade small and medium-sized businesses to advertise online by selling low-cost pay-per-click advertisements alongside results from the website’s search engine.
